What a good game on Sat. against a very sociable London French side who narrowly won by 26 point to 22!!! Makes anyone sociable with a win!!
We had over 16 players away but we still fielded 15 and two subs!!! Great strength in depth although so many players were playing out of position ...many thanks
The photo report was spot on good with good conditions and some cracking shots of why we lost the line out....a 6' 7'' French giant that Tony has captured is being lifted sky high.....without big Steve being around we had problems!
The photo report shows Ross and Noel making good running drives and a cracker of Stuart just banging down his try... the front row were in good support and Bull can be seen going flat out supporting Ross.....our clearance play was excellent and there is a good shot of Mike Buckley putting in a massive clearance kick.......had his oats in the morning to give him that extra "go"....Quaker oats of course!
The sports photo report illustrates the game so well...from the front row going down to the intensity on Peter's face, the tackles of Matt, the enthusiasm of new starter Jonathan, the fast movement of the ball at the base of the scrum....
We had a good front row of Bull, Deano and John with Mat and Peter up their backside in the engine room at second row and then with Simon at no 8 and Will and Mike in the back row it was useful scrum
But experience counted and the French pack were well drilled and we did not do too well in the set pieces until,at half time I kicked John , one of our props and we then had an uncontested scrum and "won " 50% of our ball
At half time we switched the front row and outsides with Mac coming on at scrum half and Jim going to centre and Jonathan coming on for John.
Mather had a blinder at centre but had to come off injured at half time ...he is OK but winded.
You will see in the photo report the Man of The match award that went to Ross and some discreet little shots of the Few man and Alex tucked away in the bar!

A great game and a good session afterwards watching England go down to Scotland and then shaking hands with Mac and Alex and every other Scotsman saying what a great win!

In the second half with more ball we started to make inroads into the score
with Martin running in two tries, Stuart another and the fourth try from
our new star Jonathan
We almost made the extra try and sometimes we just hold on for too long...we had the opportunities but never exploited them to convert a loss into a win!
