The game on Sat against Grasshoppers that included half of the under 18 Richmond back division development squad was a challenge, Throw in the fact that they had no hooker and we had a heavy scrum the conclusion was already, made by the first kick!

Malcolm had no chance of catching any of the outsides that were half his age anyway! The rest of us tried hard and we did have some every good forward play and charges …infect Rupert was quite outstanding with many a great charge and drive at the opposition backed up by the ever active back row and Simon, Jonathan and Dave U. We also did quite well in the lineout with Jack finding Steve on our ball but we could not keep up with the number of young, fast subs that kept appearing from the changing rooms!!

To Mark this 5th game of the season we decided to present Grasshoppers with an annual trophy …The Bull Hopper Award….to be played for each season.

In hindsight we should have introduced some rules such as only one legged players!!

The award went off well and Rupert was the Man of the Match …very well worked for indeed.

Spirit was maintained thorough the game and the photos that Tony has taken are superb and illustrate the commitment but what about the opening shot of John…what is he doing? Another shot of DavidU in the loose with blood on his mouth and Jonathan on his back is also a photo for a caption quote!!

The score?? We never go above 24 points …we scored a good try towards the end that was very much deserved and the final score fitted into our normal max we quote of 7 to 25
