we played in!!
I cannot recall such wet weather coming down so quickly in such a short space of time….the shirts weighed a ton when I took them to the launderette and could not be lifted!
Let’s get on with this game
It was a cracking game against Hammersmith & Fulham and very evenly contested. We had over 20 players turn up for the game and it was not easy to get everyone on the pitch but with on exception it was achieved.
A hard game with quite frankly both sides being very evenly balanced in every position. It made for a tremendous game and the score of 8 point to 7 to us illustrates the point. Defence was good on both sides and it was hard to get a good grip with about 2 inches of water on parts of the pitch. Just look at the photos and see the state of the players and the pitch… this brought out the Bulldog spirit in a big way.
We scored in the first half with a penalty kick by Jamie to put us in the lead by 3 points. But then the opposition scored a well worked try when we tried to clear from the 25 metre line but did not convert. In the second half through constant deterermination we scored a try from the outsides by Jules one of our guest players to put us 8 point to 7 with just that I point to hang onto for the last 10 minutes.
This was when the true Bulldog spirit came into the game and cheered on by the touchline ….of Tony, Peter, Simon, Boo and others who stayed the whole game regardless of being soaked to cheer the side on.
The defence never faltered and we finished dup with a well earned win….man of the match…there were 19 of them !!! But Hugh just scraped in with a very worthy performance at scrum half
This week we are at home to Reading K.O. 2:15 and big après pints after the game to celebrate another victory
If you could not stay out for a couple of pints last week try and make it this week for a good craik!
