Hi CHAPS
The euphoria from the match against Vandals was still with us last Sat…the changing room was buzzing and we were looking forward to our game. We had 18 players in the pool and looking like a good competent side that would take on any similar side and come out just ahead.
The majority of our fixtures this year were made up of the ones from the previous season that I had arranged and that left date for our Fixture Sec to add in a few others. We had a new fixture this season that our Fixture Sec Peter had taken on and we were up against Windsor 3rds
This match report will be brief:
The opposition had quiet a number of players with St GEORGE School on their training tops. They were a highly efficient and very fast side and their outsides were lethal!. the forwards we were on top of and in fact their hooker left the pitch in the last quarter!
However, whilst we tackled where we could it was very obvious within the first few minutes when three tries were run in that we had a huge miss match. Our players kept their spirits up with a good show right to the very end but with a final score well over 70 points to nil this was the worse result in Bulldog history. And the first time my eldest son played for us..what a starter!!
I am now with the Fixture Sec looking at the forward fixtures and changes will be made if we have any doubts and there are a few I am not confident about.
Bulldog rugby is supposed to be fun rugby played against similar sides and we mustt maintain this Bulldog policy otherwise players will drift away and new players become concerned.
The match was marred by poor Trevor sustaining a broken leg and this jars everyone into realising that rugby is a highly contact sport and injuries will be sustained. Over the years I have broken one leg, busted an ankle torn ligaments in the other one , had both knees operated on , broken my nose more times than I care to remember, fractured my cheekbone etc. so if I am a bit slow around the park you know why.
This week we are away to Thamesians on Twickenham Green. I hope they have a league game somewhere otherwise we will be up against their first team?
We will most likely K.O,. at 1;pm Int starts at 4 ..Watch this space fop more details
What a great example of gutsy Bulldog spirit when Iron Man Tony , only a few days after a new hip op arrived on crutches for a pint after the game ..that gentlemen sums up The Bulldogs
Cheers
Colin/Tony
Now we must care for Trevor…….he has only just joined us but he gave 100% plus …I will let you know what we will be doing.
